Dr. Claus Gawel advises biotech, pharma, MedTech and digital-health companies on regulatory, contract and data matters where Swiss, EU and US law meet.

In addition to law, he studied microbiology and genetics, and drug discovery and pharma management. With in-house experience at Johnson & Johnson and AbbVie, and advisory roles at IFPMA and the Swiss Digital Society, no translation layer between counsel and teams is required.

The practice operates across European and international legal frameworks. Communication takes place in English, German and French.

Admissions and registrations

Dr. Gawel holds the professional title Rechtsanwalt (attorney-at-law) and is admitted to the Berlin Bar (Rechtsanwaltskammer Berlin (opens in new tab)). In Switzerland he is registered in the public list of EU/EFTA lawyers of the Canton of Basel-City in accordance with Art. 28 BGFA, kept by the Aufsichtskommission über die Anwältinnen und Anwälte (opens in new tab).

The practice is governed by the German rules of professional conduct (BRAO and BORA) and, in Switzerland, by the BGFA. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
